Well… here we are almost halfway through March. As much as I detest winter, I really don’t worry about it anymore because time is going by so quickly that I seem to turn around twice and it is over. In yet another of example of the wisdom of my parents, my mother told me that this would happen as I got older and was she ever right about that one. Remember the days when summer vacation seemed to drag on forever and waiting a few months for something seemed like an eternity! If only we were able to appreciate those days when they were happening. In the same way we were never happy when our parents wanted us to take a nap or go to bed early. How great would it be nowadays if someone gave us the opportunity to do just that!
Summer plans for the gallery are in full swing. We are making some choices for print advertising and also now have a page on Facebook, where we could really use some “likes” (hint, hint, nudge, nudge). The next step is to figure out the best way to not only entice visitors in for the first time, but also to keep them coming back for more. To accomplish this we are looking to invite guest artists in, perhaps for a month at a time, to keep things fresh and different. We also want to offer art workshops for those who might be interested. This will be good twofold as it will also allow local artists without gallery space of their own to display their work here in Muskoka. This area is really turning into an “art destination”, so the timing couldn’t be better. Therefore, if you or anyone you know is such an artist and/or a person who might be interested in leading a workshop, please get in touch with me ASAP so we can include you (or them) in our calendar of events and promotions. If you would also like to be included on our emailing list, please let me know your address so we can keep you up to date on the latest goings on.
I cannot express how much I am looking forward to this summer and want to make the most of it. It should be crazy busy, the learning curve will be very steep and I’ll have the chance to meet plenty of new and fascinating people. Most important of all, I’m well aware that I’m going to turn around twice and it will be gone!
